Our levelling tamper is designed specifically for the deep baskets of the Robot - Manual Espresso Maker. It features a precision-cast and machined base made of 304 stainless steel, with a tapered edge to prevent the vacuum effect when removing the tamper. The black section is made of food-grade POM material and serves to centre the tamper in the basket, ensuring a level tamp. The top section is CNC-machined aluminium, and the entire assembly is held together by a custom-made 304 stainless steel stud.

Please note that the POM section is not moulded; each one is individually CNC-milled from a bar stock, which may result in visible milling marks. It is important to note that this tamper is not self-levelling.

The tamper should be inserted inside the filter basket, going all the way down. It does not rest on the top of the basket like a conventional tamper.

The regular tamper base will not work as it would cause the coffee to be sucked back up during tamping. The black section is what keeps the tamper upright in the basket, and the leaf pattern allows air to enter, preventing the coffee from being sucked back up.

While the original tamper sufficient since the Cafelat Robot does not require excessive tamping, some people find it easier and more convenient to use the levelling tamper to achieve a level espresso puck without any extra fuss.
